12Barcelona Barri Gòtic

Also known as the Gothic Quarter, this is where the old town of Barcelona is situated. The streets are lined with iconic tall and old buildings characterized by narrow and hobbled lanes. This avenue is lined with the most famous and beautiful museums in its medieval district. For those who want to curb their shopping pangs, the Gòtic provides with a series of little boutiques, outlets with daily needs and chocolates o take back home! This is also the place that was home to the great artist from 1895 to 1904.

After visiting the Gòtic, the place that you should head on to is the Picasso Museum. Get ready to be awe-inspired by the prodigy’s collection of 4,251 artworks! The most famous street of Spain, La Rambla is a place you can’t afford to not visit. The central most boulevard that cuts through the heart of the city is a vibrant and lively promenade where you get to see the action at its best. Attractions along the La Rambla are the human statues, live performances, wax museum, Erotica Museum, and Christopher Columbus Monument. For a tourist’s first visit, sitting on the Rambla with a jug of Sangria is an absolute must!

Movie buff? Well, the Ciutadella is like a dream come true! Decorated with amazing row boats and a larger than life fountain,  you are sure to get bewitched by its scenic beauty. A huge variety of vegetation and a zoo which is home to over 7000 animals can be a nature lover’s abode. So if you want to enjoy the romantic side of the park, you can visit the Lake, but if you are more inclined towards the flora and fauna, then you can visit the Museums of Geology & Zoology. 7The Food

You can never get disappointed with this city and when it comes to the food, it gets even better! If you’re a digger for seafood, you’ll be surprised at the variety of appetizing dishes Barcelona has got to offer. On the meatier side of things, you ought to try the Escudella- a stew made with pieces of meat, beans, potato, cabbage and pasta. If you are on the lookout for something vegetarian, Calcots are on the rescue! Barbequed and served with Romesco Sauce, these baby leeks are specific to spring and a major part of traditional parties.

Barcelona boasts of some of the best beaches in the world, including the Barcelonta Beach where you can see the sail-shaped  “W” Hotel. Not always sunny and shiny like usual beaches, you shouldn’t be surprised to be drenched in the rainy or dark overcast  skies. Sailing, swimming or simply basking in the sun are popular activities at the beach. Else you can also choose to sit back and enjoy a drink or two at the beach restaurants. Other beaches you can visit are the Icària, Mar Bella and Sitges.
